Wigmore Rolls

I took the spaniel to Wigmore Rolls (what a great name for a hill) this afternoon. My twisted knee won't let me walk up (or down) anything steep and Wigmore Rolls has the twin advantages of a steady incline (the top is just under 300 meters) on a forest road and some good butterfly habitat.  Although conditions were far from ideal (cool, cloudy with a blustery wind) I still managed twelve species. At one point I had the chance of four species (Painted Lady, Silver-washed fritillary, Peacock and Red Admiral) in one shot on these thistles but a gust of wind and the moment was gone. At least the Peacock came back and posed right in front of me.
