Dreich Watergate, Kirkwall

We departed Creel HQ early, picked up my s-i-l and delivered her to the airport.  No Cheeky Monkey uniform required.  It was a very wet start to the day.  Delivered the car to garage for maintenance and stravaiged along to the Toon Hall.  Just about to start my dance lesson when the garage called to indicate component still in Aberdeen and no tyres available.  Carried on with my terpsichorean trials.  ‘Faraway Isle’ – a John Drewry mini-classic, took a while to master*.  Meantime (post terpsichorean) we adjourned to the café.  Post café, without post code, I found I had left my sample pot of exterior paint in the café.  Dashed back and reclaimed it.  Met in with Iain C, super-fit doyen of the outdoors.  (Subscribers will recognise his moniker as the man who cycled fae Kirkwall to Italy).  But I laid it on the line to him – no matter how fit he is, he cannot tackle the ‘Faraway Isle’.  For he has more sense.  Went and procured some exterior paint.  Post lunch I arranged a Blip Meet.  Back at HQ I sowed more lettuce / watercress / coriander and CMC lifted all the red onions.  Had a call from the Chair of the Friends of the Hoy Kirk to discuss the hydro contract for the Kirk.  Then read a report from the Heritage Officer about funding a large project (moonshot).  CMC has just departed for her accordion session; I hope she takes my advice and removes her wicket keeper’s gloves when she plays.
