Ness of Brodgar
It started with her losing a contact lens. This is only a small part of the 6.5 acre complex of Neolithic buildings dated from around 3000 BC. Since excavation commenced in 2004 large stone structures, with surprising finds, have been uncovered annually. Much of the site will remain unexcavated. This Summer is seeing the final dig on the site; this decision has proved somewhat controversial amongst archaeologists.
