Stood on a rock today and took photographs of some guys and girls from church being baptised in the sea. I managed to get off the rock before I was stranded!
What a beautiful day. Started a bit chaotically, I've never led a creche team before here at Jubilee so am (still) not entirely sure what leading the team entails; that said it functioned well thanks to lovely team members who hung around and found things like registers and did the washing up afterwards! At least I remembered the bananas ;)
A picnic on the beach and baptisms in the sea after the church meeting, lots of friends. Overheard a couple of kids as we walked up to the beach picnic saying "that's a really big family." "Yeah. Or a tournament" lol! SO SO sunny. Glad we took the parasol from the garden, but even with that and sitting in the shade as much as possible I've still caught the sun a little too much on my shoulders and back of my neck, probably from walking up to the cafe for icecreams :) Bean and Bear BOTH went into the sea today. Bit of a milestone event for Bean really. He's been very much not keen on the sea up until now. He can swim, yes, he loves the water, yes, but the sea has been an issue - because it moves. But today he announced he was going to go into the sea, and so he did! Stripped down to his pants, went in with me, even went in the dingy (didn't like it, but he did it), and then dived under the water :D Proud mum! Bear had a bit of a paddle, got soaked, didn't like his bottom getting wet very much. But he didn't have the reaction that Bean used to have so that's encouraging! We may have our second waterbaby yet :) One of these days he might even tolerate swim lessons!
Bear went up into the wrap very happily when we packed up to head off for icecreams, protested loudly when I unwrapped him so I could go to the loo, and I swear he was asleep before I'd finished re-wrapping him when I got back. Bless. Missed out on icecreams. Still, because he'd fallen asleep, instead of heading back to the car we thought we'd hang around at the beach a bit longer. Bean would have stayed even longer than we did, even once his friends went home, he LOVES it there. I think if the weather is like this tomorrow we might bunk off school in the afternoon and head back down to the beach. With swimming costumes and towels! I could have happily gone in for a proper swim today. Severe lack of swimwear (or even suitable underwear lol) was an issue though!
Showers and baths once home, coconut oil applied liberally, cuddles and snuggles and of course Bear just couldn't settle down even though he was so so tired, and he practically ran and jumped into Steve's arms when I suggested he go for a drive to go to sleep!! Little monkey. Wonder when he'll grow out of this need to be driven to sleep. Bean on the other hand was snoring within ten minutes of snuggling up to me....
