Fringed
Off work this week, a week of annual leave taken to stop at home in Edinburgh to do cultural stuff, what with them various festivals happening and all that.
First up, Jessie Cave's lunchtime comedy show at Assembly Roxy. I wasn't that keen to be honest and the venue itself was like a f**king furnace which didn't help.
A coffee and a sit in the delightful quad at Talbot Rice (a highly recommended place of respite from the full-on bustle of South Bridge) before poet Luke Wright at Pleasance Dome. We see him every year, great as always.
Ace Thai food over the road from Bristo Square and then a pint and Olympics-watching at The Pear Tree before meeting pals for Fudgey, back at Assembly Roxy (thankfully in the decidedly cooler downstairs room). A very intensely-performed one man theatre show based around his childhood, boarding school, and life thereafter. Started off great, tailed off a wee bit but certainly plenty of excellent moments in there and, boy, he sure put a shift in.
A couple of alfresco pints back at The Pear Tree with our pals. Plenty of good chat and we got to see Keeley take the gold too.
Pic here taken around 10pm on The Bridges, waiting for the packed buses home. Busy, busy city.
