Bikers, blether and bargain books

A good start to the day, but the forecast is dire! If you can believe it, it told us that rain would begin in the afternoon and the next time that the sun would shine would be Monday 19th August! 

In case they were right I decided to walk down to the town. It was beautiful, boats everywhere, people everywhere, ice creams, sunglasses - the seaside on a sunny day. I bought a paper and visited a couple of charity shops and took a picture of the usual biker's parade along the seafront, my Blip today.

On the way back I met a neighbour having a rest halfway up Craigard Road, so stopped for a chat before joining him to plod back up the hill. Outside his house we had another blether before I came in for lunch.

I enjoyed my after lunch cuppa outside with the cats until the sun went in. Later in the afternoon the rain began so I did some potting up in the greenhouse and put the plants outside to get watered.

The post lady delivered a book for me today.  I spotted this for sale on Amazon while researching some London building or other. It was published in 1988, but the photographs were largely taken around 1932 and in many cases are the only survivors as much of the area was destroyed by German bombing. For a long time the photographs were lost in the archives of the Museum of London, but the two authors have identified and captioned all the buildings and locations, so I'm looking forward to reading it. The best thing of all is that though published at £14.95, I bought it for £3.84, post free and it's as good as new, if not new. A great bargain!
