An expensive accessory?
JR took the car to the garage this morning for a service and MOT. Yep - needed new tyres, new front brake pads, back break pads wearing out, but we said not to bother with them this time. So that windfall I got the other day is almost all spent.
The car’s days are numbered. We don’t use it much, as Archie famously gets sick in it, so nipping off along the coast on a nice day is not an option. We can’t even get to Porty without him throwing up.
We took a wander over the Meadows. Another nice day, and it’s great to see the crowds out making the most of the fine weather (it won’t last).
We had an ice cream at Soderberg, my new favourite pit stop.
Poor Hazel, our neighbour and occasional travelling companion/tour guide, somehow, amazingly enough scratched her eye!! She’s in agony. She got drops from the chemist, and they told her to visit an optician. The local one refused to see her so she had to get the bus into town to see her normal one. The chemist was amazed that she was turned away during what was an emergency.
As our car wasn’t there all day, she thought we were away - we could have helped.
Olympics today - more crazy events: climbing a high wall in about 5 seconds, young girls (one was 11!) doing crazy stunts on skateboards. The circuit, and vast seating area are in the Place de la Concorde, central city, so obviously just there for the games. Amazing! All the venues are superb.
Paris, after the washout and weird opening ceremony, has pulled it off!
We were in Australia (Noosa) on a house swap for the London Olympics, and didn’t see much of anything. The Aussie tv channels mainly followed events if there was an Aussie in them, of course.
