On This Day In History
1959: The first U.S. satellite to photograph the Earth, Explorer 6, is launched
Quote Of The Day
"As we begin to comprehend that the Earth itself is a kind of manned spaceship hurtling through the infinity of space - it will seem increasingly absurd that we have not better organised the life of the human family."
(Hubert H. Humphrey, Vice President of the United States)
I returned to my reading tree this afternoon and finished reading the wonderful The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon. I shall definitely pass this on to my teaching assistant who introduced me to the incredible Dandelion Dynasty. The Priory of the Orange Tree does not reach the dizzying standards of Ken Liu's masterpiece, but it is a very entertaining read nevertheless. It does make me want to read Shannon's The Bone Season.
