…at Threave Nature Reserve, near Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, UK.

On the grounds— most commendably kept by the National Trust for Scotland—we lucky to see an osprey besides waterfowl and a deer.

The newly made observation platforms provide a good survey of the River Dee and adjacent meadows, and they sheltered us from recurring rain bouts.

The ruined medieval castle on an island in the river is temporarily closed for restoration.

In the afternoon the weather improved considerably.
