No Takers
Our local Monarch butterfly population seems to be way down this year. We had a few come in earlier to lay their eggs on the Swamp Milkweed, which I now have growing directly in the ground.(used to grow it in large black plastic pots). I'm not certain if the cats survived to adult butterfly stage though. A bright lining to this worrisome situation is that now the mature (and whole) Swamp Milkweed plants are all blooming! I love their tiny 'ballerina-looking' flowers!
I'm busy cleaning up the yard from 'Debby' (check the *extra for yard waste ready to be collected...I'm not anything if I'm not neat!)) and keeping one ear 'tuned' to the Weather Channel for the next storm...certain to come! Although we had no trees blow down, there are a lot of fallen limbs and debris to clean up. I'll be busy for the remainder of the week. And, of course, hurricane 'season' arrives during the hottest, most humid time of the year. Somewhat poor planning, I'm thinking! m
