Still darting about
(I realise that I've probably got these two images the wrong way around as the extra is actually my favourite of the two - see what you think).
I'm playing with lenses at the moment. The darter on Wednesday was taken with a 105mm macro, yesterday's was with the 70-200mm f2.8 telephoto and today's two shots of the same insects in the air is with a 400mm f4.5 prime telephoto.
I was mainly doing this to be able to compare the bokeh (out of focus elements) of the 3 lenses. The shots I've blipped weren't necessarily demonstrative of that.
But one unexpected result of my little experiment is something that I probably had recognised previously but only really appreciate now that I've used the 3 in conjunction with each other - the 400mm is by some considerable way the quickest focusing of the 3 lenses. That's not unexpected given that it is a prime lens.
