Drowning in fabric
Yesterday I tipped out the contents of several large baskets of fabric - remnants accumulated over a lifetime of sewing. Today I sorted, decided what I was likely to use in the future and what I could safely get rid of, give away. Now it’s all organised and usable. Makes me happy.
It’s amazing how much of these bits of fabric I recognised and knew where they came from -bits from clothes I had made, bits from dyeing sessions. I remember once getting for very little a bag of remnants from Bombay Stores in Bradford, a place where ladies’ saris etc were made. My textile group in Penrith were delighted when I brought some such bags into class and distributed them. I’ve made use of some of the scraps of beautiful silk, but the bright pink embroidered cotton you can see here . . . I don’t think so.
