The Madrisa Trail Race

Today was a busy one - it was very hot and sunny again today and we did not do a long walk as we were too busy, but maybe that was not a bad thing as it was just so hot.

This morning we went grocery shopping for the weekend, I have planned all the meals for the weekend with everyone being here and so a visit to the supermarket was necessary. Afterwards a coffee was enjoyed at one of our favourite cafes. Back home I started cooking dinner as I knew I would not have time later, and then we enjoyed lunch on the terrace - fresh heritage tomatoes with mozzarella, delicious!

Our friends arrived on the 4pm train and we collected them from the station. Luke, Meriel and Adam had all entered the Madrisa Trail Race tonight. Our friends’ arrival coincided with the race event in the village and there were stalls set up and a festive atmosphere for the race. There were various races of different lengths and they decided to do the 'easy' one of 11km and an ascent of 452m up and down the mountain - as it was so hot it was a tricky race on the mountain trail. After our friends had settled in we hopped on the e-bikes and followed the race, I managed to photograph the runners at three different points. They all managed the race very well,  Meriel finished in 3rd place of the women runners and had to stand on the podium and won a prize of a hamper with various goodies in it.

After the race finished we went back and had dinner and spent a lovely evening chatting.

Sorry I have not had time for journals today.
