Mural
I love this mural on the side of a painting company in town. I tried to includes ome of the front of the building because it shows how much can be done for a rather dull building with a creative paint job. If we needed a paint job I would definitely call this guy.
We met our usual group for coffee this morning. Bob dumped us for a tennis game but Gail came without him and Dan and Tobi were both there with Trixie. She and Spike enjoyed their puppaccinos (extra). We were wondering what Spike was eating when and started looking around for the paper cup the puppaccino came in. It had vanished without trace, presumably into Spike. As John is fond of saying, we'll find out.Tobi brought a box of 'Travelers' tomatoes', some kind of hybrid that look like bunches of grapes. Tobi has a really wonderful food garden and, Master Gardener that she is, has a really green thumb. She said she got these seeds out of curiousity and now has more of these curious tomatoes than she knows what to do with. Suggestions were offered.
Dave, the sewing machine doctor called, as promised, at mid day and said that after exploratory surgery he discovered that hitting a pin with the needle bent the bobbin case and the hook which he thinks will be repaired by next Tuesday. Interesting that it didn't even break the needle. I didn't ask how much it will cost, but I did talk to him about a new one since Bernina no longer supports this 25 year old machine and parts will become difficult to come by. The good news is that I can get the new version of the one I have for a reasonably affordable price. As I've already said, it's such a pleasure to deal directly with the repair person. I suspect that he is a dying breed as he is no spring chicken and I don't see any younger people on the horizon waiting to replace him. But I guess the same could be said for all of us!
There's no shortage of things to keep me busy on the Klee inspired quilt. I'm still working on a prototype as the fabric I ordered appears to be making its way here by Pony Express. It is now in Melrose New Mexico with a scheduled delivery date of Monday. I fear I didn't order nearly enough, which means I'll have to either find another place that has all the colors I want, or order more as soon as I can figure out exactly how much more I'll need. One of the difficulties with designing a quilt as one goes along, but I'm quite enjoying the challenge. Efficiency is never the goal....
