Hercules

Yet another NOT a one street shot. Though it is another canal shot. I had a meeting in Wrexham this morning and afterwards headed to the lovely town of Llangollen. It is a beautiful place with the canal and the white water of the River Dee running through it. There is a most magnificent steam railway line with its station right next to the river. Look high up above the town and you will see the magnificent ruin of Castel Dinas Bran. A couple of miles away is the wonderful Pontcysylite Aqueduct. While in the other direction lie the peaceful ruins of Valle Crucis Abbey.

Llangollen also hosts a world renowned Eisteddfod every year.

Here you can see Hercules pushing the barge towards the Horseshoe Falls which feed the canal system. The weir at the falls marks the start of an eleven mile World Heritage site which ends just below the Chirk Aqueduct.

Some more snaps from Llangollen today.
