Day at a Time

A slice of Edinburgh

Caught an early train into Edinburgh this morning. At Haymarket I was met by a friend who stays in London but who maintains a toehold here. We went to her flat for coffee and a chat. I then walked up to Bruntsfield and rendezvoused with other friends who were enjoying a leisurely breakfast. More coffee for me.

Then walked over the Meadows to the Book Festival and admired the new venue. Very swish. I didn't actually have a ticket for today but my friends were going to see Margaret Atwood.

We parted company and I walked back to Waverley. So many people thronging the streets. Good to see people back enjoying the festivals. I'll be back again tomorrow.

My son sent a photo of himself with Paul Merton in George Street. I think he was going to more child friendly events today though I expect he'd have enjoyed a PM show.

The blip is the view from East Princes Street Gardens over Waverley Station towards Calton Hill. On the left is the Balmoral Hotel and on the hill are some of the famous monuments.
