Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

Farewell Michael Jackson

I feel bad for all the hurting family, friends, and fans of Michael Jackson.

I have not been a Michael Jackson fan and I did not get to watch the memorial service today because I was working in the campus Writing Center, but I watched the clips and highlights of it on the evening news and believe it is all very tragic.

He was so very young; too young to die. Even though his style of music wasn't for everyone, he contributed in ways that will be recognized for years. I think we are already learning that the Michael behind the scenes worked very hard. His dream was large and he worked hard to develop and hone his God-given musical gift.

For the first time ever his young 11 year old daughter, Paris, spoke publicly at the service to honor her Daddy. Amazing! Then, it was more than special that some of his family members wanted a service that was not just secular, but spiritual, so a gospel choir sang and Christian songs were included. People gathered today not because Michael died, but because he lived.

Farewell Michael Jackson.
