Flood waters

We drove up to Deep Run today to spend some time with Kent’s sister-in-law, Linda, and her family and so see how the roads were with the rivers rising.

The rivers in southeastern NC are expected to crest on Monday/Tuesday at moderate to major flood stage.

Clockwise from the top left;
• In Chinquapin the river is high and running very fast
• In Castle Hayne the Cape Fear River is high but not yet at flood stage
• This was someone’s front yard we passed on Hwy 41
• This is our creek as it crosses the main road going into Castle Hayne. It is up level with the top of the bank

The photos don’t do justice to the amount of water, considering Debby was just a tropical storm and not a hurricane.
