An Avid Lensman

Canute Castle Hotel

This fanciful, ornate Southampton listed building is now posh apartments and flats and on the same block as the South Western House (Hotel) where many of the 1st class Titanic passengers stayed before their ill-fated voyage.

My back was really against the wall as I used the widest on my Nikkor 10-24mm ultrawide angle lens. It required correction for barrel distortion as well as for uneven coverage of light, presumably as the building(s) behind me reflected differing amounts of light onto this one.

A polariser brought about the dark blue sky, which turned dark and contrasty in the black & white conversion.

Have a look in LARGE at all the ornate details.

Thanks to all who got my Ocean Village blip of yesterday up into the Spotlight. It's, as ever, appreciated.
