Sunday's Darter
Today's take on the Common Darter sees the insect poised and ready to take off as it tracks an insect flying over the pond.
They move so quickly when predating other small flying insects that I haven't yet managed to get a shot showing the darter and lunch in the air at the same time where both insects are in focus. To be honest, I'm not sure I'll ever manage it, but the best of today's efforts is the extra. A fraction of a second after I took that shot the darter had turned accelerated and crashed into its lunch faster than the eye could see and certainly faster than this photographer can track, even with all the help the camera provides.
