Crystal Palace Park
I took the train to Crystal Palace Park today. I've lived in and around London for 45 years and never visited.
It's a very nice place with lots to see. I knew the Palace was no longer there, but I didn't realise that it started its life in Hyde Park for the Great Exhibition in 1851. It was then moved to the Park, which is now known as Crystal Palace Park. It was destroyed by fire in 1936.
The white structure in the Blip is a replica corner piece of the Palace. Very strange to see it with the Television transmitter mast in the background.
The Extra shows the terrace and steps that the Palace originally stood on.
