Mono Monday: Memory
Today would have been my father's birthday, born 109 years ago today. That got me thinking that, with a Mono Monday theme of 'Memory' it might be good to do a collage of a few old family photos that bring back memories from my childhood. In some ways I was surprised at how many I found, including some from way before I was born including a couple of photos of my mother that were addressed to my father in 'OFLAG 79' in Germany where he was a prisoner of war, stamped on the back with the official camp stamp. In the end though, I chose only ones which included me in them.
I thought I would add details of the photos although as this is really only of relevance to me, feel free to move on. Starting from top left, my parents are standing next to me in my swing which my father rigged up on a couple of hooks in the door frame to the shed. We have a photo of me in a see saw at Junior School; the two girls were Anne Spence sitting, and Julie Jackson standing up. I seem to remember Julie turned into a gorgeous, tall willowy blonde when I was at senior school, and had brains too! A couple of shots of me with my two older sisters; the middle-sized one is the one who visited us last week; sadly the older one died a few years ago. Across the middle are three shots of me at three years old. I can still remember that trike really well; red, with blue wheels. Right in the middle is me as a fairly sullen teenager and at the bottom (and maybe of interest to one or two other blippers) is me with my mother and sisters at Saltburn, in the days when the pier was much longer than it is now and had sheltered seating at the end.
