Festival Time
I have always liked the Festival atmosphere in Edinburgh, right from being a student when we used to go for the Theatre and to browse the Fringe. Now we mainly go for the Book Festival and bits of the music.
Today we went for the day, by train from Penrith - I do love that journey. We had great coffee at the Arts Centre and then a wonderful late breakfast at the Edinburgh Larder. We then meandered our way to the McEwan Hall - via Blackwells, which I had never been to and had not realised how big it is.
The main point of our trip was to see James O’Brien and he was very good - of course. It was a massive audience - Munroist was there but there was no chance of catching sight of her amongst all those people - and they were definitely not doing this leisurely as we were!
Although the day started grey, as in my photo, by the afternoon it was sunny - perfect really. I was happy to sit amongst festival-goers, people watch and read my book, whilst Gordon wandered, he likes to orientate himself and this was a part of Edinburgh we did not know at all.
A bus back to Prince’s Street Gardens - lots of people here. And eventually our train back to Penrith. We are back next week for a little longer stay.
