Avril and the Swan

Today's the day ..................... to introduce

This is the lovely Avril - Big Boss and chief inspiration behind the Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities Charity Shop - where I spent a few hours volunteering  this morning.

Her job is to make sure the shop is always full of items for sale - but not too overcrowded.  She decides on the pricing level of goods, her particular area of expertise being the glassware, crockery, ornaments and various bits and pieces that folk donate.  That swan is a perfect example!  She's also the one that does the window-dressing, often on a particular theme, and has to make sure that it is an eye-catching display that will bring the shoppers in.  Most tricky of all, she has to tread that thin line between keeping everyone happy, be they volunteers, donors of goods or punters wanting to buy them.  

She manages to do all of the above without any trouble - and always with a smile on her face .........................
