An Aberration
This female small white butterfly was in my garden and I was immedately drawn to the absence of any spots on the upper surface of its its forewings. A normal female would have two black spots on each forewing.
When it briefly closed its wings, I could make out spots on the underside, so they were only absent from the upper surface.
It was definitely a female because of its behaviour - it raised the end of its abdomen whenever a male approached to signal that it had already mated and was no longer receptive.
It is therefore designated Pieris rapae ab. disconulla
