Yellow Knees

It was only when I loaded this onto my computer that I realised this butterfly has yellow knees!

There were four of them on a small patch of knapweed, Centaurea nigra, all looking very fresh so I assume there had been a local hatching.

Location: Birnie Loch Nature Reserve, Fife

It is of course a peacock butterfly, Aglais io
