Running Hammock....

......well, the closing ceremony last night was a game of two halves; the first two hours were exclusively in Norwegian language and frankly not for the international guests. The closing section improved as the singer finished his set and the fireworks were sent skyward. Hard to believe that is the formal camp over.

Today was the town visit day. We travelled-in on the free bus service to the city centre for a spot of shopping, exploring the old town, enjoying the surprisingly good Petroleum Museum and a sit-down meal of pizza and fizzy juice. The lunch bill was toe-curlingly expensive, but then everything is here.

We took a Danish group up on their invite to join them for a camp fire and whilst the leaders discussed the differences between Scouting in the UK and Denmark, the Scouts acted it out; I had to draw the line when the Danes began to teach our guys to throw axes.......

We are sleeping in the marquee tonight so that we can strike camp in the sunshine and send dry tents home in the container. The Scouts seem apprehensive about communal tent life, but it will let them see another side of camping.
