Scales Tarn

A hot day forecast so we planned to hike up Blencathra via Mouthswaite Comb.  This was the next big test in the fitness stakes.
It was not to be unfortunately, perhaps a combination of heat, a carb free breakfast or generally being not up to the job meant we abandoned the attempt to the summit after about 800 feet of ascent. HR was pushing above 145 and I wasn't feeling great. Better safe than sorry.
So,  we aborted and hiked through the valley to Scales Tarn below the  Sharp Edge ridge.
The tarn was flat calm and the reflections were superb. There were loads of brave souls taking on Sharp Edge, in the pic you can just see the people crossing the ridge giving an idea of the overall scale.
