No fog today!

My last day in Newcastle. My aunt M isn't feeling up to going anywhere yet, so N and I spent the morning down on the Quayside. In all the years I've been visiting them, more than 50, I've never been down there.
It's very smart and modern. One side has the Sage and the Baltic, the the other has stylish pubs and bars, modern art, today it also had deck chairs with people sunbathing on them. It was 24°C, very hot when you've spent most of your life in Orkney! Lovely spacious walkways along each bank and the millennium swing bridge too. Fascinating to watch it rise into the air dead on 12 noon!  Super views from it. It really was like being abroad!
Extra of the Blacksmiths Needle.  An amazing piece of sculpture, blacksmiths all over country contributing to the final piece, made in 1997.
Other extra of an excellent cafe called Cake Stories. Seating in shipping containers, great fun, lovely friendly, helpful staff and really fantastic iced latte and white chocolate and raspberry Pain Chocolat!  A great day!
