Sophie Meets Duke

We had a video call from a very happy and excited Sophie this afternoon on their way back from an event at the World Horse Welfare Centre near Somerton where she had got to meet author and YouTuber, Esme Higgs.

As regulars will know, Sophie is mad about horses and Esme writes novels for young people about horses as well as presenting YouTube programmes on everything horsey, so she is one of Sophie’s heroes.

Not only did she get to talk to her, get her photo taken with her and a signed book and poster but she also won a large painting of one of Esme’s horses for coming first in a competition where they had to run round and jump over a course of small show jumping obstacles. She was delighted to get a clear round.

The blip, taken by Kate, shows her with one of Esme’s horses, Duke, looking like he’s nibbling her ear and is far more interesting than anything I took on the golf course today.

She was beaming all through our video chat and I suspect she hasn’t stopped smiling yet!
