A study in concentration

We attended a further event this evening organised by BearstedCAN (Climate Action Network) who had invited the new leader of Maidstone Borough Council to talk about the Council’s objectives over the coming years.

Few people could have disagreed with what they wanted to achieve. The question in everyone’s mind was how much power did the council actually have to bring about their objectives?

Many questions were about planning and house building, which although being the responsibility of the council, seemed to be largely out of their control with pressure from national government and being held to ransom by development.

In truth, this was an emergency blip. I was bereft today.
