Eyebright

After a murky start the day was clear and bright. A bit of well work in the morning then we did the Reenmore loop, walking down the old green road towards Kilcrohane then turning left at the holly tree, along the teeny boreen and the ford, across the road, over the gate and down into steep pasture past the folly down to the strand, then back home on the road.  The eye bright was competing with the camomile in the centre of the green road, a veritable carpet. It's tiny but surprisingly complex and colourful when you look at it, and it's well named. for it is still used to treat sore eyes and conjunctivitis, though reading up about it, it does seem it has to be used with caution especially if you have diabetes as it can lower the blood pressure. Who have thought by looking at it! The heather is also out as are the blackberries, Himself has already stewed three lots with some apples.
The walk was fierce busy - we encounter six people and when we went down for a swim afterwards, Kitchen Cove was rammed with small people busy making sandcastles and massive holes. Dads were  being ordered to fetch bucketfuls of water for the moat.
Of other interest - there was some interesting poo in* various places around the house, Himself took a photo and Googled - black bear or wild boar apparently!! We suspect hedgehog.
* as in outside the house! Himself is doing an accuracy and grammar check and found me wanting.
