If you can't beat them...

Speckled Wood ( Pararge aegeria )

We headed north for a couple of days in Edinburgh with Kat.  She was working so we timed our arrival for mid afternoon, allowing us time for a coffee at the visitors centre then a stroll along the Water of Leith, before returning to collect her after she had locked up the visitors centre.

Other people take wonderful photos of Kingfishers, Dippers, Otter etc at the Water of Leith.  Somebody must have told the wildlife we were coming as they all hid.  The total bird count was 3 Woodpigeons and a Magpie.  Luckily this Speckled Wood did a short pause in its flyby.
