Pigeongate

The two wire flower baskets rigged together into a sphere seemed a good way to keep the pigeons at bay.

Wee birds love it and there are often several queuing up to get on the ladle.
Coaltits, Bluetits, Great tits and as seen here, Chaffinches, all come and feed
and there's plenty to go around.

Until the pigeons come along ...

(anyone who looks in here regularly knows Pigeons are the bete noir)
They devour all the food in one gulp.

This afternoon a pigeon had squeezed it's way in to the sphere, taking up the entire space - it's enormous backside sitting triumphantly on the (empty) ladle.
It skadoodled in a flurry on seeing me.

Trying to outsmart these incredible survivors seems unlikely, given their sheer resilience so far.
However, the not-so-grand-design's been modified to make the spaces smaller and it remains to be seen whether it does the trick.

Hectic day with several long meetings back to back - no chance for sunning and only managed the one (not very sharp)photo

Added some backblips for past few days
