Sadly but not altogether surprising,  today the local news was all about the multiple wild fires in the area due to high temperatures (around 40ºC) and very strong dry and blustery wind fanning the flames.  People were evacuated from some nearby areas. Fighting the fire from air  with sea planes and land, fire services. The smoke billowed across the bay and by nightfall even here in Akbuk the air stank of smoke. Sickening to know that these fires are often started by carelessness. 

I stayed indoors all day, but early evening ventured out to the sea front to give Rufus walk and to have a salad and beer while I read my book and looked across the bay towards Didim.
