Trisentona
The river goddess, Trisentona, whose sculpture was commissioned by Staffordshire Wildlife Trust.
She has now been given a wood henge (see extra) And I totally approve of this addition. Her location is where three rivers meet and in nearby Catholme Ceremonial Complex, where archaeologists have discovered there was a cursus, a “Sunburst” and a wood henge. It is now better documented at the site, with an information board.
Over the years, the name Trisentona has been shortened to Trent.
Croxall Lakes is normally a very quiet reserve. It’s located on the other side of the River Tame from the National Memorial Arboretum. The car park is tiny and I was lucky this morning.
It’s neither well known nor dramatic, but it is a lovely atmospheric historic place.
