Elderly cormorant

I went early to bank some cheques and drove past Stowe Pool before going home. Unusually, there was room to park near St Chad’s so I took the opportunity of walking round on this lovely morning.

One thing I love about Staffordshire is how friendly everyone is. I learned that this cormorant is rather elderly and loves this particular island. Just nearby there was a terrapin. Apparently there used to be three and this is the only one left.

Further round I let Merlin identify the very loud sound of a Great Crested Grebe. There was a huge argument going on. As usual, they ducked under as you got them into focus but I did get one shot (extra)

A lovely way to start the day. Now back to more mundane matters……
