The last summer hurrah

I managed a 4 am wake up and got myself up to Sugar Loaf parking lot and hiking by 5:45. I made it up partway before the sun came up at 6:15. It was a lovey but strenuous hike. I like the quiet of hiking in the morning as this place gets incredibly busy especially on a Saturday. I didn't get bragging rights though to be the first at the top. I smelled what I thought was toast!! I got up there and a couple guys had a little backpacking stove and were making biscuits up there! That was a first. I just brought up a thermos of hot tea and chocolate. They were from Laramie too and we all agreed the view never gets old. I was back down by about 9:30.
Some highlights in the extras. I was extremely happy to have a little pika pop up near the trail and sit there eating while I took photos. They are in the rabbit family. And I saw 4 moose as I was driving out of the area. What a great day!! Now I'm ready for bed...lol..
