Lakeland Festival of Light
Jess, was back in the midlands recapturing her youth this weekend and probably her accent. This leaves me to get the tripod out an faff about for hours.
Fortuitously the Lakeland Festival of Light was on at Keswick, a great opportunity to faff.
Last year I went up to Castlehead but I was a complete novice with my camera. My mate John told me to use manual focus, I was unable to find the focus ring on my lens until John showed me that the reversible lens hood could be removed and reversed uncovering the focus ring!
This year I thought I'd try from Crow Park. There were a lot of people there but very few on the shoreline so I was able to find what I thought was some composition interest in the form of gate and fence line.
The hikers light up Catbells for about 20mins so there is plenty of time to experiment with different settings. I mainly experimented with exposure time up to 30secs producing smooth water and cloud movement.
Having reviewed my efforts this morning, it was actually a 2sec exposure which produced some dramatic clouds which I think trumped the smooth water / moving cloud images.
