Sweetcorn
What’s so nice about the Rogate village shop is that they, a team of young management and long term workers make a real effort to think about who is coming in to the shop and where they are getting stuff from. There are snacks for cyclists and walkers, a really good little post office and they take sweetcorn from the local farm and sell it for 60p a cob or £2.50 for 5. I bought 10 for tomorrow’s lunch. I stopped off down there to pick up something returned on Vinted, and to send back a swim suit that I’d bought to replace the nice one I bought last year but can’t find at all.
A day working in the office at home , sunny and dry and surprisingly busy for August but I guess we are in the run up to transmission. I ran into Petersfield to buy some food for tomorrow but also spent a lot of time on the phone.
Watched first episode of Monkey King, the Carl Hiassan adaptation which was O. K. Unlike Slow Horses, also a literary adaptation on Apple, the authorial voice seemed like a rather heavy shoulder bag that the characters were forced to carry with them. Even Vince Vaughan seemed strained by having to stand still and talk in paragraphs.
