International Festival - Murberget
After yesterday's bout of extreme lawn-mowing I was very happy to have a day without gardening. Instead we headed into town.
For the last 30 years, in mid-August, there has been an International Festival held at Murberget, the outside part of the county museum. The various nationalities who live in and around Härnösand set up stalls selling food (seen in the background here) and there are various dance and music groups on the nearby stage, as well as a few speeches about solidarity, one world, and similar positive ideas.
Most of the people we know in town show up on this day so it's a good opportunity for socialising. We spent time with Lis and Paco, pictured here, and with Kjell (Shelling on Blip) and Karin, and chatted to lots of other people.
After a good day yesterday Jan was feeling rather unwell today so she mostly sat on a blanket in the sun. Despite all the delicious food she didn't feel like eating anything. In contrast I managed Vietnamese, Thai, and Somali dishes! I skipped breakfast so I could try out various foods for my brunch.
(Update - Today, a day later, Jan feels quite a lot a better.)
I spent the evening watching the last two episodes of the first series of "The Three Body Problem". I look forward to series two and three. The Netflix version is based on the book of the same name, by Chinese science fiction author Liu Cixin. I have just read that too, and really enjoyed it. The Netflix version and the book are quite different. Unsurprisingly the book is much more centred on China, but the modern sections of the TV version are more UK centred. However, interestingly I enjoyed them both equally!
