Bingley Five Rise Locks
We had a bit of an outing today! Drove to East Riddlesden Hall (an NT property), which seemed to take for ever because of traffic and roadworks, so by the time we got there we needed coffee..and of a course a small scone to share!
We then walked along the canal (Leeds/Liverpool) to Bingley Five Rise Locks…where we partook of sausage/bacon sandwiches (not shared) in a very pleasant little cafe at the top of the locks.
From there we walked along to Three Rise Locks, then back up to Five Rise where we watched a pair of boats making their way down the first three locks…fascinating ‘gongoozling’.
Another walk back along the canal to East Riddlesden for tea and a shared caked.
Another long and tedious journey home…rush hour traffic and more roadworks, even though we used a different route.
Six miles walked (plus another 1.5 for the dog walk before we left) and over 21k steps.
Add an extra of a heron waiting patiently at the bottom of Five Rise..
