Heavyosity

Is it maybe a llama or an alpaca, or a sheep gone wrong?  I still have no idea.  The cover artwork and in fact all of the photography inside is all wide angle shadowy stuff in sepia or black and white that probably looked deep and edgy and mysterious at the time. As for the lyric sheets, they aren't much better: they're all mostly Eddie's half-finished ideas minutely scrawled it would seem with a broken fountain pen, with random doodles for ironic jollity, or bashed out on a half-broken typewriter with an overinked ribbon.

I'm sure in 1993 the band thought the liner notes looked really angsty and aggressive and raw, well matching the jangly distorted, detuned crunch of grunge, but come on guys, this was a CD booklet.  We're all 31 years older now and need glasses to read!

Pearl Jam is a properly good band though, and Vs. is still one of the best albums I ever bought: the songs are absolute bangers.
