Northern Ireland Day 3
Despite a full day of rain yesterday, I managed a swim, a boat ride and a walk around Enniskillen.
I left the cosy Shepherd’s Hut this morning and headed east to County Down. I took the circuitous route and encountered some fab scenery on the way. (Slieve Croob Scenic Loop; Legananny Dolmen). The sun shone most of the time with just the occasional shower.
I spent an hour or two in Newcastle and had a tasty but late lunch.
So I have just checked into an Inn in a wee town in the County Down.
It’s over a pub and the lady said she hoped it wouldn’t get too noisy at night. They have a nice menu so will treat myself to dinner there. About 10 minutes after I checked in 2 horses galloped down the Main Street outside the Inn with a man in a Stetson running after them shouting and roaring. Yep
Anyway the Inn is cool. Big comfy room, big TV and best of all an antique loo and sink. Sink is in extras but modesty forbids my posting the loo - but it’s a piece of art. Seriously. And to top it all the shower has a massive frying pan head. If I win the lottery, that’s the first thing I am buying myself.
Extra is figure outside a butcher’s shop in Newcastle. Also sea turtle street art.
So my blip today gives you some mountainy scenery, toilet humour, man in red apron, street art and just to round it off, old man Belloc’s poem to Miranda (which by the way is a hymn to the carefree life of youth).
