Northern Ireland Day 4
Today I embarked on the Mourne Coastal Tour
I was up early (6) - all packed. After a delicious meal in the Dundrum Inn last night, watched a wee film, in repose by 10.30pm. Awakened at 2am by the clippoty clop of horses hooves on concrete. Looked out the window to see 4 big chestnut horses charging down the Main Street as tho they owned the place. Holy Moly it was strange or should I say strangely beautiful!
So up at 6 and took my main blip as I left Newcastle to head out the coast to Annalong/Kilkeel/Warrenpoint to see that spectacular mountain scenery. The Mournes are softly rounded mountains leading down towards the sea but dangerous when you are a solo driver because you keep glancing left and right and ooooh-ing and aaaaah-ing (me) but they are twisty windy roads.
Had a fp (flaky pastry) sausage roll in a petrol station in Kilkeel with a bunch of builders and set out on this lovely coastal drive.
Through Warrenpoint, Newry, Dundalk, Drogheda (a veritable journey of different accents - trust me) and finally home at 2
I had a great trip. Immersed myself in nature - where I love to be.
I would highly recommend my accommodations … the Shepherd’s Huts in Blaney, Enniskillen and the Dundrum Inn in Dundrum (just outside Newcastle) but it’s not for the faint hearted.
Have a look at this
(I walked around it this morning); it’s so cool.) just around the corner from my b+b

I’m going my laundry now and relaxing in my gaff back in Dublin
Go visit Northern Ireland - they have great people there
