Juvenile short eared owl

Within 5 minutes of leaving the hotel we stopped in a lay-by to look for eagles(no luck) but right by the van hidung in the grass was this bedraggled juvenile short eared owl! It sat there for a full 2-3 minutes before flying off.That made our day, which was lucky because we went hunting for eagles, otters and anything really! The weather was intermittent torrential rain and sunshine. We saw a golden eagle high up from the van and a buzzard but no otters and no sea eagles. We did see some sheep and highland cattle and some red deer stags from a LONG way away!  The weather tomorrow is forecast for torrential rain and high winds all day. The trip to Iona seems doomed!
