A day in the life

Resonance - Day 7

Om my way home from H&L I stopped half way to visit Inger & Gösta, living on an island in the actual river of Ångermanälven.

Inger has been working as a music archeologist at the museum here, doing research about the folkmusic in this region, intervewing the singers an instrumentalists, the ”tradition bearers” as they’re called.
Gösta is a musician, playing wind instruments as well as being a craftsman of wood and everything electric. One of the many wind instruments he plays is the cow horn. Every evening before dark, in any weathercondition, he goes down to the river to play an improvised tune over the water in the direction of the mountain opposite the river, a kind of ”good night, all is well” signal, to the inhabitants of the small island.
