Dalkeith Palace
Dalkeith Palace is hosting the Visual Arts Scotland exhibition this week Details can be found on Dalkeith Country Park.
Pat and I spent several hours walking around this interesting exhibition of painting, photography, sculptures and installations.
Some of the artists we know and already have work by them in our own collection.
The work varies in quality as is to be expected. Some is of the highest quality and interest. Some is not. To be expected, I suppose.
We had never visited Dalkeith Palace before. The building was completed in 1711 and is regarded as one of the grandest classical houses in Scotland.
We knew some of the ‘Invigilators’ acting as guides and were able to discuss in detail.
Today’s entry gives an idea of the scale of the building and the extra shows Pat photographing a blue artwork in her blue outfit.
Locating the entrance to Dalkeith Palace was something of a challenge. The signage is not very clear.
However, the exhibition is well worth visiting and the House is of great architectural interest.
Our journey home was disrupted by an ‘incident’ in Dalekeith town centre involving the presence of several police vehicles, an ambulance. and a number of police interviewing pedestrians.
We called into Costco to refuel and to buy some food items before heading home.
