Painted Lady
A big gardening day so the butterflies were my only blip opportunity today. This painted Lady is on what remains of the buddliea that we have to keep under control.
Vanessa Cardui is a long distance migrant and the most widespread of all butterfly species. Each year, it spreads northwards from the desert fringes of North Africa, the Middle East, and central Asia, recolonising mainland Europe and reaching Britain and Ireland. I love the patterns on the underwings but have put an extra in which shows both sides of the wings.
Thanks for all of your Blue Moon explanations yesterday. We learn something everyday in Blipland!
