Diggeration/On a Breach

Had a busyish day but an enjoyable one that began with picking Dad up from his physio in Ashton & dropping him back at home, then deciding to give two Venetian Blinds a wash that had been taken down whilst I painted the walls yesterday. Having never done so before and wondering How? a decision was taken to hang them off the washing line and spray them with surface cleaner.

Whilst that soaked in I took youngest for an appointment in Ashton (again) before returning home, propping them up in the bath and washing them off with the shower head. Ideally they could dry back outside on the line but the weather has turned iffy. Instead they are staying indoors overnight and then may be hung outside or in the garage tomorrow. I hope they look better for it because oh what a faff...everything is a faff today ;-D

Then I jumped on the ebike and pedalled over to my parents who weren't in. They were in fact on the opposite side of Mancunia at Salford Royal where Dad had an appointment that I'd forgotten about. Not to waste the daylight, ebike insisted that we pedal to the edge of Marple on the canal, hopping off through Brabyns Park, into Compstall and over the back of Werneth Low.

A phone call part way through the ride confirmed they were now home so a visit was then made for a couple of cuppas and a chinwag. A WhatsApp came also from the Birthday Gal, Ms.Arell, whose prezzie had arrived in the post...phew...had posted it on Saturday and was worried it had gotten lost in transit!

Main blip is a minor breach of the canal spotted near Hyde Bank Tunnel. Only a shallow one thankfully but you could see canal water flowing through the pothole! At first glance brain misread the notice to say Diggeration which is a new word a little too long to use on Countdown, although that'll save Susie Dent from telling me its not in the dictionary!

The extras are (i) Rosehill Cutting which was originally a shallow tunnel in the late 1700s, but after collapsing half a century later, was opened up into a cutting; and Marple Aqueduct (ii) with the railway viaduct in the background.
